ABOUT CLAIRE (she/her)

M.S.W., R.S.W., Social Worker, Psychotherapist

Claire is a registered social worker who provides psychotherapy in English and French to adolescents and adults, aged 16 and older.

Claire's work is founded on an enthusiasm for seeing people take control of their mental health and make positive changes in their lives. She works with people to address challenges and emotional pain while exploring healthier and more effective ways of managing emotions, thoughts and physical symptoms. Offering a warm, nonjudgmental and hopeful environment, Claire works collaboratively with each individual to determine their therapy goals and treatment plan. Working from a strengths-based, trauma-informed and pro-2SLGBTQIA+ framework, Claire draws from a variety of evidence-based approaches to suit each individual's needs. These include dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, attachment theory, polyvagal theory and motivational interviewing.

Claire has a particular interest in working with people facing anxiety (excessive worry, social anxiety, panic attacks), insomnia, depression, low self-esteem, overwhelming emotions, emotional dysregulation, trauma, difficulty coping with a life change, grief and loss.

Claire achieved her Master's of Social Work and Bachelor of Social Sciences (Major in Psychology) from the University of Ottawa. She is registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

Prior to transitioning to private practice in 2017, Claire spent 6 years as the lead of the mental health program at the Montfort Academic Family Health Team, providing individual counselling and psychotherapy services as well as educational groups. She has also worked at the Vanier Community Service Centre offering crisis counselling, resource navigation and community development programming.

Claire values being informed of the most recent research on mental health and best practices. She participates regularly in learning and training opportunities and consults with other mental health professionals consistently.

When Claire is not working, she can be found practicing yoga, biking, running, playing music, dancing and spending time with her 2 young children.
